John 12:42-42 - Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the glory of men rather than the glory of God.
Lord Thank You for never changing. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. How amazing that is. Guide my steps this day so I may follow wherever you lead. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
These verses reveal a truly heart-breaking reality, not just for those in the past but for many Christians today. They believe in Jesus, they believe who He is, what He's said, what He's done, yet because of what others say, believe, or think, they do not confess Jesus openly.
Why?
Because they fear being removed from the comfortable confines of wooden checklist religion and wooden checklist relationships.
Why?
The Word of God says deep down under it all they love the glory of men more than the glory of God. That word "glory" in the Greek is doxa and means: good opinion or estimate concerning one, and as resulting from that, praise, honor, glory.
Christian, whose opinions carry the most weight in your life? Do you hold back from confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior or the truth of His Word for any reason? Be transparent with yourself and above all pray and ask the Lord to search you and reveal to you anything unseen inside of you.
That's where the journey went today. I know there were things the Lord walked me through this morning, and I pray you let Him do the same for you. Don't take my word on it though, be the Berean and get into your Bible to read it for yourself.
You are loved. You are prayed over. You are not alone.
