John 9:13 -- They brought to the Pharisees the man who had formerly been blind.
Most mornings when I set out to meet the Lord in prayer and His Word, our journey together takes many directions and covers much ground. Today, I read this one verse and started to laugh. Yes, laugh and did I mention this was at 4:40 AM? I'm just glad I didn't wake up my wife.
What was so funny? Oh it's quite silly and probably nowhere near as funny as it was to me. The instant I read verse thirteen I immediately thought of 'The Artist Formerly Known As Prince'. In my mind's eye was seeing 'The Artist Formerly Known As Prince' being brought before the Pharisees. Okay, okay so maybe it was just funny to me thinking of Prince back in Jesus days.
Now here's the kicker, I tried to move past this one verse and couldn't. No matter how hard I tried to move forward, the Lord stayed right here. So I just sat in His presence right here on verse thirteen. Then it hit me I too was a man who had formerly been blind.
Christian, has knowing Jesus radically changed who you are? Does the world see you as the person who was formerly one of them but now you're noticeably different? If not, why?
I pray you would take those questions serious and think on them. Pray about it. I ended up reading James 4:4-5, so I close with that.
James 4:4-5 -- You adulterers! [flirting with the world] Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. 5 Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.
Side Note: As I prayed on what to draw today it came to me that the same image from yesterday with the mud removed stands out quite a bit.
Have a great day today and know you are loved. You are prayed over and you are not alone!
