Quick Listen. Slow Speak. Slow Anger.

James 1:19-21 --- Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [speak carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]. So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls.

I taught these verses to my boys over and over. Really read it, really listen to what God's saying to you in it about your own actions/words and don't try to immediately apply it to all those "other people" that jump to mind, it will truly give you perspective on where you're at.

It also gives direction on what to do as well. Will you choose to read, to allow God to show you the mirror of your own actions/words, to follow it?
