1 John 4:8 --- Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
I woke up today not feeling too well. Prayers are much appreciated. As much as I wanted to dive into today's verse, I just haven't been able to get much further than this:
God is love.
I'm just overwhelmed by that and not feeling well, all I can really do is just stay right there, soaking it in.
Lord, help us to slow down from our ultra-insane-busy lives to just think about that for a minute. That You are love. Help us to let it sink in and just simmer in our hearts and minds. Lord don't let it just become a thing we say and nod our heads over, then move on. Let us gaze upon it and be awestruck, like someone standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon for the first time or staring up at the night sky in the country where there is no end to the stars above. Just to know You, is to know love, true, real, selfless love. To be in your presence is to be overshadowed by love. We've so twisted the word love, but since You are love, and You have chosen to reveal Yourself to us through Your word, we can know what true love is. We can at least wrap our minds and hearts around a tiny piece of it. Thank You, Lord for sharing who You are with us, for giving us Yourself in loving us. Let our thick skulls and hard hearts be softened enough to receive even a tiny sliver of a seed of this today. So that it may start to grow inside of us. I love You Lord. I pray for each person in my sphere of influence Lord, family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. Bless them Lord. Reveal Your love to them today. You know right where they are, what they're going through, and I just ask you would let them feel Your presence in the middle of their storm, struggles, tragedy, heartache, pain, sickness, disease and in their joys, happiness, and blessings. Let them feel Your presence Lord, for You are love. We cannot know You and not know love. Thank You for that unchanging, rock-solid truth. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
