Knowing, Jesus Chose

John 13:3-5 - Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Lord Thank You for this new day. Thank You for never changing. When we get off course You are always there, like the North star. Help me to deny self, pick up my cross, and follow You wherever you go today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What jumped out today was this:

Knowing, Jesus rose from supper.

Knowing, Jesus laid aside His outer garments.

Knowing, Jesus took a towel, tied it around His waist.

Knowing, Jesus poured water into a basin.

Knowing, Jesus began to wash the disciples' feet and wipe them with the towel around His waist.

Jesus knew who He was, He knew who His Father was, He knew the Father had given Him all things, He knew where He came from, and He knew where He was going back to. He knew torture and murder awaited Him in a few hours. He knew Judas would betray Him. He knew no one would stand beside Him. He knew Peter would deny Him. Still, Jesus chose to lower Himself to the place of a servant and wash the feet of His disciples. He chose to serve every one of them, including Judas. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords chose the cross for you and me.

Christian, will you follow Jesus this far?

1 John 2:6 - the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Matthew 16:24 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

That's where the journey went today. Don't take my word on it, get into the Bible and let God show you directly what He has to say.

You are loved. You are prayed over. You are not alone.
