Jesus, Light, and Life.

John 1:4 --- In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind.

Today we continued down the path of John's mighty introduction and we found Life and Light.

The first thing we explored was the verbs. There are two in this verse, and both are, "WAS" or in the Greek, EIMI, which means "to exist".

So, what is it that exists in The Word which has existed since before the beginning?

Life, but not just biological life, in the Greek there are a few words for life. One of them is bios, which is biological life. Then there is the word used in the verses here, zōē. Which essentially is life itself.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon says this about zoe in this verse: "of the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through him both to the hypostatic "logos" and to Christ in whom the "logos" put on human nature".

Just like yesterday, stop for a minute and just really let that sink in.

How many times do we really step back and look at Jesus and see Him for who He really, fully is?

I can't stop thinking about Martha and Mary right now. Martha was so busy working away, immersed in her feelings and emotions of frustration over the work and not having help. While Mary stopped everything and sat down at the feet of Jesus, The Word in flesh, which through all things were created, in which life itself exists, which was the Light of all mankind.

Are you too busy?

Are you too distracted?

Are you driven by your emotions?

Are you immersed in your feelings?

Where is Jesus, The Word, in your life today?

Just some questions to think about today. If you need prayer, please reach out. You're not alone.
