Psalm 139:1-5 O LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar.
You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And You are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
You have enclosed me behind and before, And [You have] placed Your hand upon me.
What's amazing to me is God knows me and he still sent Jesus to die for me. He knows you too and loves you the same. Psalm 139 is the chapter that saved my life many years ago and I cherish His words in it so dearly.
Today it gave me this image of God sitting down comfortably, holding the book of my life in His mighty, powerful, yet oh so gentle hands and reading over every word and chapter. I hear him breathing gently, he cries a bit, he laughs, he hums a gentle melody, he gets upset a few times and makes a scolding noise many times, yet overall, there is this sense of warmth and joy and overwhelming love as he turns each page till, he reaches the last. Then he closes the book, gently holds it close to his chest and embraces it as a father holding his newborn child. This is what was on me today as I read Psalm 139. God is so good.
