Flower & Spot

Creative Commons - Sharing my brother Alf's humorous comic strip about an ink spot, the love of his life a flower, and the adventures they find together in life!

Artist & Writer: Alf --

Hello all, I hope y'all are enjoying the chill in the air and the change of the seasons. Now for the story behind this Flower & Spot. When my beautiful bride Kerri-Jean and I went to Pauls Valley our destination was the Lord and each other, Pauls Valley was just the place we were staying. It was a time of deliberately slowing down and taking each moment as it presented itself and rejoicing in the Lord, letting him do what he wanted to - letting Holy Spirit lead us where he wanted us to go. Ps 37:23 & 24. We saw this sign for Hometown, and I thought it was for some sort of store for interior design stuff and asked Kerri if she wanted to go and look around and she said yes. It turned out to be a grocery store and we went in anyway as Kerri wanted to compare pricing (Kerri has a knack for stretching our grocery money). Hometown has a big selection of soda, an extensive selection of soda. THE FOLLOWING MAY MESS WITH YOU....you are warned.

Neither Kerri nor I heard the Lord saying go into Hometown, but he quietly led us there as he had something for us that he would give to us in a grocery store - a place of his choosing. He knows us, he knows what makes us tick and in Jesus we are able to be who we truly are. The Lord knows what my sense of humor is like. As I looked at the different sodas my eyes fell upon one that made me run over to where Kerri was and say "You gotta see this!" I had just seen a soda named Kitty Piddle, then another named Zombie Brain Juice, and still more named Martian Snot, Unicorn Yack, Dog Drool, and the art on the labels was fantastic. We laughed and laughed and laughed. What the Lord gave us in the grocery store was joy, the wonderful joy of the Lord. Jesus was laughing with us and possibly at me because I was laughing so hard. I had one of the most powerful spiritual experiences that I have ever had in my life in that grocery store - God is not at all limited to where he will meet you. He loves you and he so wants you to have his joy.

This episode of Flower & Spot is dedicated to Howard Eugene Watson.

SIDE NOTE from Phil: Below is one of the sodas Alf mentioned above. He brought some back and I had the honor of giving one a whirl. The best monster mucus I've ever tasted! Yummy!
