John 12:25 - He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.
Thank You Lord for a new day and a new week. I thank You for my family, those by birth and blood, and those in Christ Jesus. Bless them Lord, let them know You are with them this day. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
This morning as we continued in John Twelve, Jesus had something to say. It's really quite simple and on the surface one could get twisted up over the word "hate" I suppose. However, if you KNOW Jesus, if you've followed Him, if you've watched Him, if you've listened to Him, if you have heard Him, then you know Him and what He speaks of here.
When He says, "loves his life" and "hates his life" in both instances the Greek word for life is psychē and while Greek words often have many definitions in these two places it falls under, Breath, breath of life, the vital force, life.
So, all this comes down to what your focus is during this finite life lived on Earth. Who is the main character in the story of your allotted time?
If all you focus on, love, and care about is your life, then one day the last page will be read, your story will come to an end, and the book will be closed. It may even be a grand tale, full of adventure, riches, and happiness, but it will come to those final two words, "The End". No sequel, no part two.
Which means by doing the opposite, focusing on Jesus and on others, means when this life is over, when that final breath is taken, it is but the ending of a chapter. So as this finite life or breath ends the next chapter continues on in eternity.
If the main character of the story in this life is Jesus Christ, then it won't matter when your breath ends here, because turn the page, and you are still following the main character into a new adventure!
There is no better way to sum this up than with Paul's attitude towards it.
Philippians 1:21 - For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Here that is again in the Amplified translation.
Philippians 1:21 - For to me, to live is Christ [He is my source of joy, my reason to live] and to die is gain [for I will be with Him in eternity].
Christian, who is the main character in your story today?
You are loved. You are prayed over. You are not alone.
