Do You Have 41 Seconds?

John 12:28-37 - Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “An angel has spoken to Him.” 30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake. 31 Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” 33 But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was about to die. 34 The crowd then answered Him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; and how do You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?” 35 So Jesus said to them, “For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.” These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them. 37 But though He had done so many signs before them, they still were not believing in Him,

Thank You Lord that we are so blessed to have the whole Bible. To have access to so many resources and ways to read, study and know You. I pray for my cousins today, Lord. You know where they are and all they have going on. Walk them through this day. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Did you read all the scripture above? It's important to really see the whole picture here. I know it looks like a lot, but I read it in 00:41.80 seconds. Yes, I'm just goofy enough to time myself. So, 41 seconds to get in a good portion of God's Word. Go ahead, give it a shot, read those 10 verses.

Christian, do you realize the magnitude of importance it is for us to pick up our Bibles and know God's Word? To walk with Him in His Word? To hide it in our hearts? To get to know God in it and through it? To stand upon it? To build our lives upon it?

This crowd didn't have a Bible to read at home. They sure didn't have the internet and blueletterbible.org to study with either. They went to temple regularly, where the scrolls were read and taught by who? That's right, the religious authorities and teachers. Now, not every one of them was bad. We're told many times some believed. We also know Nicodemus was one who believed in Jesus too. However, most people learned from oral traditions, temple readings, and teachings by the religious elite. If something sounded funny, they couldn't go home and flip over to the Book of Habakkuk to read it themselves……. But you can.

Beloved, if you do not place any importance or value in reading the Word of God, then you do not place importance or value in knowing God (Father, Son, or Holy Spirit). God put His Living Word into written form, preserved it, and passed it down through millennia to where you can hold it in your hands, read it, hear Him, see Him, and know Him.

It's time to rethink how busy you are, how boring you feel reading scripture is, how thinking you get nothing from it makes it okay to not do it, or because you go to church/listen to sermons/read 2 min devotionals you don't have to do it regularly. These are easy and often subconscious excuses to avoid making the sacrifice of spending time with God in His Living Word. How would those excuses hold up to not spend time with your spouse, children, family, or friends? Just something to think about.

That's where it went today. Don't take my word on anything. Be the Berean, get into the Word and see things for yourself. Let God guide you through His Word.

You are not alone. You are prayed over. You are loved.
