John 1:1 --- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Today began by talking with the Lord and really praying through the journey ahead. Then we went straight into study time, so much study. LOL. After reading through John chapter one, it was on to commentaries and overviews to get historical and scriptural context of this Gospel. So, after reading lots and lots of people's thoughts, interpretations, and retrospections, I now turn to the Lord and open this journey up with prayer.
Lord, thank You for giving us the Bible, Your Living Word, the sword of the Spirit. Thank You that, as we dive into Your Word here in the book of John, we have so many wonderful resources, commentaries, studies, preaching, and teaching to help us understand, interpret, and gain context, but I turn to you Lord as we enter this journey. I only want to follow Your lead. Help me to live out Proverbs 3:5-6 in our time together in this adventure. To trust You, to not lean on my understanding, but to intimately acknowledge You in all of it, then to look to You for the straight path you assure will come. I clearly want to follow You and only You, wherever that leads. With all that's going on in this world, I come to You and ask for Your Truth and Love to move through, not only our time in Your Word, but through my life. The world and The Way are clashing greatly as they have repeatedly since Jesus. Wake us Christians up on how to abide in You, so we may have You abide in us. We, Your children, cannot walk in this world without Your Truth and Love. Both of them, together, from You, in You, and always pointing back to Jesus. If we try to do it any other way, it's in our own strength and that won't cut it in showing the true heart of Jesus to those who need Him the most. I saw a quote from Andy Andrews which said, 'everyone wants to make a difference, but no one wants to be different.'. I pray Lord, give me the courage to be different, to be filled with You and Your love and truth, and to let it be Jesus in and through my life that confronts people, not me. Let me be hidden in Jesus. I am excited for our new Journey together and I ask for Your wisdom and to give me eyes to see and ears to hear You in every step of this adventure. In Jesus name. Amen!
As I prayed on what art to do today, I got the image of Midoriya from a Japanese Animated series. In a world of mighty heroes and villains, he was a young nerdy kid who didn't have a superpower or "quirk". So, he spent every moment of his life studying superheroes, watching, and following them. He'd carry notebooks with him and take lots of notes and go back to study over previous entries. You get the point. I hope to always have a heart and desire like this character, always looking for Jesus and studying Him everywhere I go.
Have a wonderful Wednesday. Get into the Word and start an adventure with Him today!
