John 1:40-42 --- One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter).
I love my brother, Aaron, very much and every single time I read these verses it brings tears to my eyes. Maybe I'm just over emotional but it gets me every time.
So, John the Baptist points Andrew to Jesus. Andrew goes after Him. He is then confronted by Jesus asking him what he is seeking. Then he's told follow me and see for yourself. Andrew follows and sees. Then after spending a day with Jesus, he goes and FIRST thing finds his brother, Simon.
Maybe you don't have siblings or maybe things aren't on the best of terms, but Andrew couldn't keep Jesus to himself, he needed his brother to know. He went and told Simon Peter, but didn't leave it at that. He brought him to Jesus.
Andrew didn't run out and shout from the rooftops. He didn't find a platform to stand on and preach to those passing by. Those things are great but it's not what it says he did. He went and found his brother. Someone close to him. Someone he loved. Someone he worked with. Someone who knew him. Someone he knew he had to share Jesus with!
Christian, are you so excited about Jesus that you have to find that someone and tell them about Him?
If not, why?
Not every person is called to stand on a stage, go on TV, or evangelize to a crowd in another country, but we all have someone we can tell about Jesus!
Honestly, my quiet time with the Lord today in prayer and in His Word has just been highly emotional for me. I've found it hard to recap and actually put into words.
So, since words aren't working to well then I leave you with the artwork for today. I prayed about what to draw and this is the image that came blazing to me. LOL. If you don't know, this scene comes from the movie Terminator 2, where they go to save someone. The Terminator reaches his hand out and says, "Come with me if you want to live.".
Silly? Yes it is, but there is truth there too.
