Abide Walk Run Look

1 John 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Lord, thank you for this day. Thank You for Your Word so that we may spend time with You, see You, hear You. Fill us this day Lord with more of Your love. I pray for every person who comes across this blog. Let them feel Your presence, Your love. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I couldn't move on from Hebrews 12:1-2 this morning. As I studied on it and prayed over it 1 John 2:6 came up. Take a moment and read 1 John 2:6, then Hebrews 12:2 in that order.

1 John 2:6 is a command stating that if we say we abide in Jesus we are no indebted to walk as Jesus walked. I know it says "ought" but the original Greek word used means a debt or to owe.

Now, Hebrews 12:1-2 is telling us to lay aside things weighing us down and the sin that ensnares (unbelief) and run the race with endurance…. BUT it doesn't stop there... No, no, no!! God doesn't expect us to hear these directions and take off running. He further tells us, before running you should…

…look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We now have our focus, our perfect example, our hope and inspiration, of Jesus! You aren't expected to figure out how to run this thing, we're to look to the one who has already ran it.

This ties together with 1 John 2:6 because we're not just told to go do the best you can and good luck. NO! We're told to walk like Jesus walked. We're told to run with endurance and look at Jesus.

As a Christian are you looking unto Jesus and walking as He walked?

If you are not opening your Bible and getting into the Word of God then how can you know how Jesus walked? How can you look unto Jesus if you don't know what he sounds like, what his words are? How can you walk as he walked if you don't see how he did it in the Word? How can you know His heart and His love apart from opening the Living Word of God?

Just some questions to think about and maybe some priorities to change in life possibly. I know I've had to make that change personally and I've never regretted it.

Remember you are loved, you are prayed over, and you are not alone.
